Mini studio snap

Decided to try DIY mini studio shoot with my toys.

All shoot is taken using 2 white manila card, 1 off camera flash with a DIY bounce card bounce to ceiling with some reflection forward with 1/4 flash power. Camera manual mode with ISO 100. I think the result is quite satisfaction, but during the session I realized one thing. I freaking need to clean my toys the dust has really accumulated through out this time TwT

Nostalgic

Decided to view through some of the old photo that I have, it really give me a nostalgic feeling. It is a history that is part of my life, existence, experience and character. I am who I am because through God grace that I can exist and live through this time.

If not mistaken, this is taken during 1993, sadly I have pretty much lose contract with most of them.

If I can recall properly, I think I joined photography club when I was in Form1~2, should be around the year 1991~2. That time I still using film, that time I really know nuts about camera & photography; indeed we are living way privilege that our pass where we have great access to information and knowledge.

  I gonna dig out more old photo and hopefully I can get it scan professionally with better quality. My scanner at home can’t really scan it to the highest quality, all the photo will turn out really antique even though on photo it still good XD

My first strobist moments

After getting my off camera flash, I finally settle down and doing some test shoot with it. Self portrait + Timer + off camera flash = freaking hard!!! I have so many out of focus, under expose, over expose, composition errors etc etc, and til the end I find this one acceptable.  Hopefully as I continue to learn I become better and better with it.

I feel like naming this as “Walk on the moon” XD

First wireless Camera flash device acquired!!!

After I start to get seriously interested in photography, off camera flash or some called it strobist. It is a camera flash technique that instead of shooting your flash in front of your object, you can actually allow flash to shoot from other direction.

It is quite a simple china made device, which only allow you to have 1 transmitter and a receiver to attach your flash.

I am really excited and wanted to see what kind of photo I can snap using off camera flash, and also realized I got more things to learn, since it actually involve a lot of technique method. But this should be a fun journey!!! ^w^

Sunset @ Crocodile Beach

Decided to drop by crocodile beach to snap some photo, and more importantly to test out my newly acquire Hoya HMC filter ND8. It is a camera filter to help stop down the light which allow your camera to have longer shutter speed.

 

While the performance of ND8 filter still left for more to desire, I was really hopping to get at least 2~3sec shutter speed instead I can only get it to 1 sec before really overexposure the shoot. Maybe I just expect too much from ND8 filter, but even with the 1 sec shutter speed lag, it does really help to smoothen the wave.

Just want to do some light painting to say I’m here, really need a brighter torch light XD

Change

As we continue to age, it is inevitable that things going to break down; and it happen to me as my car rear tire got stuck by a screw and needed to be replace T--T

Thank God that it is still driveable, so I drove to the workshop near by my office and asked them to change the tire for me. A 2nd hand Bridgestone tire + workmanship for only $30 I will said it is quite reasonable, and everything done in 15min.

Then after work I decided to drop by Chong Hong to buy a mouse and Sata HDD Dock, since my Razer Krait mouse spoiled for quite a while and in need a better mouse compare to those $10 mouse. . . . .

And here is the comparison of my old & new Razer Krait, while on top you can’t really identify the difference other than the old one use orange color while new one use red color light. You can actually can see the difference when you compare the bottom part.

It still pretty much like my previous, just slightly bigger and longer. Constructions and materials is the same, of course it is still silky smooth when you use it.

Then I got myself a SATA HDD dock, been wanting to get this for quite a while. Since I have 1x120G, 1x250G and 1x500G HDD  + 1 primary 500G HDD and a secondary 1T HDD in my  computer. I will give a small explanation & reviews for this unit soon.

External Flash acquired!!!

To acquire an external flash for my current photography hobby has been one of my wish list, since there are so many possibility open up once you starting to play with light source. While knowing that my dad & bro both use to have SLR camera & gears and also knowing that they both use Nikon, so I put aside the ideas to ask them for the flash gun. Somehow today it click to me that it might work for my Canon 30D, so decided to ask my bro & dad for the flash gun. I tried it with hesitation but I am overjoyed when it really work with my cam!!! The cons is that I have to start using manual mode for both my camera & flash gun in order for both to work, but I gonna take as another learning curve for me in my photography journal :)

Taken using external flash bounce to ceiling, ISO200, shutter speed 1/50s, aperture f5.6 and handheld. Which no way I can do it at the past, either I have to resolve using ISO1600 or using direct flash which gonna come up harsh and flat.

Birthday Celebration & Welcome Dinner

Have a stomach bursting dinner last year for celebrating my eldest brother birthday and also welcome dinner for my 姑妈 (my dad sister), daughter, daughter in law & friends. So our house is jack packed with peoples, I have to sit with the younger one since our main table is not big enough to occupy all of us, and the table is filled with foods. To be more precise, MEAT!!!

After meal we have fruits and birthday cake, and a group photo.

Fratini Restaurant Eating competition

Manage to catch this when we past by Fratini Restaurant @ Gadong, they are hosting a eating competition to see who can eat the most pizza at a given time. So out of curiosity, I stop by to take a look and also to snap some shots.

Some of the participants and the pizza before them, I think I need to fast more than 3 days in order for me to finish this amount of pizza. . . . . .  I actually quite surprise to see some ladies and aunty participating this competition XD

I didn’t stay back to see the whole event, but by judging the left over portion I think the LADIES is the winner!!! So now you cannot said ladies can’t eat XD
