November Round up

For me November is really one of my busiest month for the year, both socially and in work. First and foremost is my birthday celebration with my family members, which I have already blogged about it.

Then there are Smarter charity events and Let’s drive organized by Telbru and lot’s of other. It was a shame that I didn’t have the opportunity to go and participants. The other event I really missed is the BTclick photography meet up that I unable to attend due to commitment, hopefully I will be able to attend their next gathering.

Then this morning I attended an Open forum hosted by Asia Inc regarding IT security at ICC. A really short session, I wouldn’t said I learn a lot from there, but it is pretty interesting to know how much awareness the local field inregrading IT security.

I also watched “The Social Network”, real interesting drama that base on true story about Facebook founder. No special effect, no gun shooting, no action, just pure talk; yet the script is brilliantly scripted and acted. I can happily give it 8.5/10

Thanks to Gadong mall to make 3D cinema available in Brunei with a cheap price, I have rewatch Avatar 3D which came with extra footage. Even it is the 2nd time I watched Avatar, due to the 3D effect and great story, I was captivated through out the movie without boredom. Great stuffs! 9/10

I also watched Megamind 3D, great family cartoon with a interesting turn of event. 8/10

December I believe gonna be another busy month, especially need to plan and arrange for the Christmas event, activity and of coz GIFT!!! Yet gonna look forward to it. ^w^

For those that follow my twitter should have came across this video, but I think it is just too awesome that I decided I should share with my blog reader also XD

As far as the info I have collected, it was done by Alexander Semenov with one entry Nikon Camera D5500 and one Canon 550D and some entry lens. It really showed that first and foremost important is the one holding the camera and how they gonna convert their ideas to the mass instead of ten over thousand dollars of camera equipments. The video footage, editing, composition is really impressive at its own rights. I do hope that this will spice up more creative for the video industry ^w^

Youth Movie outing @ Mall Cineplex watching Toys Story 3

Thanks to Joshua for organising the outing to watch Toys Story 3; even thought it is a bit rush for some of us since we are watching the 5:30pm show. Well for only $4 per person, a movie before 6pm is still  one of the activity I will love to go. 

So, how’s Toys Story 3? Absolutely incredible! Can’t really remember how’s the part I and part II so can’t really compare with it. But if you enjoy part I & part II, there is absolute no excuse for missing part III, must watch!!! I am happy to give 9.5/10

For movie review, I pretty sure you can find a good review online or I know someone will gonna write one >W<

This mind be the last ever movie outing with the Lap Lap, but I pretty sure one way or the others we will able to meet again for some more awesome time.

If you have some ideas with movie capture /  photography / 3D editing you will know how impressive and how much work he have put into the video. Even with just a short 1 mins clip, I think will take at least few week to pull it off?

My Room entertainment system

Previously I posted about my purchase of Sony KDL – 40w5500, which is almost 2 week by now; I am still pretty happy with it.

And this is how it look in my room atm

To give you a better perspective the size of a 40” tv, a quick shot of me with my TV. Those Starwar toys is from my brother who are in New Zealand at this moments, helping him to keep it while decorate it in my room.

Now, it has officially turn my room into a media entertainment paradise, with my pc act as the media central with the abilities to play video, music, internet + games with 5.1 surround sound. Technically we called it Home Theatre Personal Computer in short HTPC. It doesn’t mean that normal pc with PC monitor cannot be called HTPC, it is just that having a bigger screen make watching movie so much more enjoyable compare to my previous Samsung 19” LCD.

Recently I also installed a program called XBMC, it is a front end media program  similar to Windows Media Centre. The installation is pretty easy, but configure the contents with video information took me a huge chunk of time (might be due to my slow internet connections?) But once you start setting up and saw the result of it, you can’t really stop. . .

This is how it look like With some extra feature like weather broadcast, hardly use it for me, but good to have it. If you look carefully, it also support for music & pictures, but personally  I feel that iTunes is a way better music management programs while Adobe lightroom is my default pictures management.

It display my anime collections with wonderful wide banner ^w^

It will display Movie information if available, but not for this case . . . . . Movie information with display resolution, audio information and movie rating base on where you query the database. It can also display individual TV series episode informationCurrently I still fine tweaking this program and trying to update my content information one movie at a time, if I can get hold on bigger HDD for storage, I might even start ripping some of my DVD collection. Since it gonna took me a long time to do it, I don’t see myself doing it any time soon (too lazy) :p  So if you guys wanna drop by my place (room) to watch movie? Do let me know.

Cloudy with a chance of Meat Balls

Just watched “Cloudy with a chance of Meat balls” today @ Mall Cinema. It is a story about this particular young inventor invented a machine that will turn water into what ever meals you want, then the story go on & on. If someone ever invent that in real life, he will be one of the greatest person in human history I suppose? Just imagine how much problems can be solve if it is use “properly”? I wouldn’t go into the plot since I don’t like to give out spoiler, watch the official trailer here if you want.

I really like this movie for what it is; interesting, hilarious, hardly a bore moments through out the show (less than 120mins if I am not mistaken), pretty good animations and 3D graphics with a decent story line. If you want a movie to chill and have a good laugh, this show is highly recommended. 75/100

By the way, anyone know anyway in Brunei you can watch movie in 3D? Please drop a comment if you have any ideas, thanks

NIght of the Museum

Watched this show on friday night 7:15pm at Mall cinema, together with my friend and some of his friend. Meet terence and my 3rd bro over there and they intend to watch Curses of the golden flower.
Anyway, i don't have high expectation on this movie since i know that the story and plot will be very straight forward (which it does) so i watch this show mainly for comedy and entertainment value, which i should said it satisfy me in this categories. A good movie for family entertainment and someone looking for some comedy during this holiday season. Overall: 7.5/10

Eragon

Eragon, a story about a young boy named Eragon who at one night pick up a dragon egg and destined to be a dragon rider to save the world from the evil king.

Just watched this show at the mall cinema, I must said I am quite disappointed with it. The story process in a way that is predictable and way too classic for my taste, the dialog was simple and straight, not much twists and turns in terms of story line. The CG, special effects and landscape was not bad, but I think it can be better. If you want to see this show and hoping that it can rivals “Lord of the ring”, then I will advise you to turn away from it. At least at this stage, no way in any aspect it can come close to the standard where LOTR has set thus far. Anyway, you can expect part II or maybe even part III release in the near future and improve on what must be improved. At this stage, 7/10.

Weekly Update

Sorry for the late of updating my blogs through up this week. It is just plain amazing that so many things can happen in so litter time. Not really so much lah, but enough to keep me busy through out.

Hmmm… first and for most, I watched Dejavu on Monday, and I must said it is an excellent movie, great story with a great plot, of course Denzel Washington and the rest of the crews deserve the praise also. Must watch!!! 9/10

2^nd: My pc decide to fail on me after serving me for the last 5month, the windows system is totally corrupted and I got no choice but to format and fresh install the whole things, to put salt into the injure, it infested by virus and worm right after I format my pc, which require further action from by trying to clean it =__=” Trying to backup and transfer over 80G of data is just……

3^rd: Work, again lots of work have been pilling up, and unexpected hardware and software problem popping out here and there on different company. I been well know in company that I’m a very forgetful person, and to add onto it, I left my bag in one of the company I went yesterday. Not that I forgot about it, it is just that they lock the dept door after the office hour so I can’t take it out. : p

4^th: Hmm… too many complain, let change to something lighter. We have a company lunch today at the hotel restaurant, buffet style. The food is not bad, just that today the main dishes is mainly Malay and Chinese food, so kind of spoil the moods. It seems like when it comes to buffet, RBC airport and Empire still remain the best in Brunei. I enjoy myself with all the foods that available, and I ate till I can’t my dinner. Over eating man, don’t know how I gonna kill off those extra calorie that I already took in >w<

5^th: Youth teacher meeting after the lunch. Mainly the purpose of this meeting is to discuss further on what we want to do next year and planning on the schedule. We have a very lengthy and fruitful discussion; with this meeting it also help us to shift our mindset to be more prepare for next year. No to work and glorify our self, but to honor God in all serving we can give. Now, I really need to mentally and spiritual prepare myself for next year. More work is awaiting me!!! I like what I hear from the pastor during the fire conference, when you are faithful with the work that God has given to you, it will be rewarded. When you are rewarded it means more work for you :>
Anyway, before I worry about next year, I need to worry about this coming week where I need to lead P&W for the church and I haven’t got single songs yet :p

Tap dancing in penguin style

Music + Singing + Tap Dancing + 3D Animation + Penguin = Happy Feet

When I first saw the trailer of this movie, I know I will watch this show in anyway, seeing penguin doing rap, singing pop music and tap dancing just pure amusing. As you can expect from Hollywood, it packed with one of the most realistic 3D animation with great music.

Story: Sad to say, it just follows the typical American cartoon formula. Hero born with special ability that the family/tribe that cannot accept, after going through various hardship and events and turn from a zero to a hero at the end. So typical lah.

If you are looking for great story that going to break you to tears. Hmm, I suggest you go else where lia lah. This show is plainly for entertaining and keeps you happy and smiling through out the show. So sit back and relax yourself if you gonna watch this movie. If watching movie is expensive for you, rent it also can. Overall: 7/10

Gluttony Royale

Picture speak better than a thousand words, just by looking at the picture itself, you all should know that I goanna talk about the latest James bond movie. To be honest, I not a James Bond fans, and I have no intention at all to watch this movie. Even to the point I reject my church member invitations Then come my friend, being a movie freak though not interested to watch, but after hearing good reports and reviews from various source, decided to ask me go together, which suppose to watch sat, but the show was fully book so we change it to today. I told my church friends that I will be watching with my other friend and if Esther found out she goanna kill me. Right after I came out from the cinema, I saw her with others. My~~~ just can’t hide man… Anyway, I didn’t get kill, just got some beating and scar all over. (Joking only ah, please >w<>w< )

After watching the movie, I must say I’m impressed!!! Still James Bond the invincible spy, great car (astro martin GT), and a hot chick >w< style=""> Jacky Chan should ask him on his next movie.

Second things is that, you see bond got scar all over his body in this show, which hardly happen on the previous show, not much gadget this time, but with much better plot, twist and dialog. This time is much more realistic then any of the previous James Bond, I really enjoy this show. IMO, I will give it 8/10

So what does it do with gluttony??? We watched the 4:45 show, so naturally we are hungry after the show end at around 7:15pm. We decided to go Charcoal for dinner, since we haven’t take steak for quite a while. I ordered a T-bone steak, a blueberry cheesecake with ice cream and a cappuccino. My friend while not intention to eat cake saw my cheese cake decide to order also. Talking about trying to resist temptation and gluttony come in? :p Anyway, good food, but definitely not cheap, altogether my meal cost around $30.

Death Note Movie

Went to watch Death Note movie with my friend yesterday. If you don't know what this movie is about or reviews, just went to goggle and search for it. I think there are enough posts regarding this movie.
For those hoping to see an exact copy from the manga in live actions, i must say that you will be disappointed, there are some major changes in the plot and settings in order to fit into 2hrs, and the character doesn't really fit. How can raye became a japanese in the movie?
Personally i'm disappointed with the whole show, most of the jp actor/actress cant really act, cutting too many detail to fit the whole story, and the overall shows is not really that entertaining. If you have read the manga, i give 6/10 else 6.5/10; maybe i just demand too much from it? :p
